Some Thoughts On Coming Alive
What do you want?
“It’s lonely at the top. Ninety-nine percent of people in the world are convinced they are incapable of achieving great things, so they aim for the mediocre. The level of competition is thus fiercest for ‘realistic’ goals, paradoxically, making them the most time and energy consuming.”
~Tim Ferriss
Like, really…
What do you really want to do?
I’m not asking you what you think is “achievable”. I’m asking you what you really want.
Its time to stop basing your life on what you think is possible for you.
Based on life so far.
I promise you, you’re wasting your time. We live in minutes, remember?
Mediocrity is jam-packed. There’s no traffic on the extra mile.
Do you know
How many people I really had to beat during my time as a martial artist, to win 9 world titles?
Not as many as I had to physically “fight” in the ring. Most of those fights were won before we even stepped out to begin.
Not because I’m better than anyone I came up against, and not because I did anything to psyche anyone out before we started the fight…
I simply knew I could do it. That’s all. I believed in myself. At the very core of my being.
Many of my opponents, at their own core, did not.
And that was the difference. The only one.
Some of them were better than me.
But they did not believe they could win.
They aimed to place, even though they wanted to win. They lost long before the tournament began.
Most people only aim to place in life.
Why? Why did they aim to place? Don’t they know it’s OK to go for Number 1? That it’s there for everyone’s taking? It’s fair game!
I’ll tell you why. Because somewhere along the line, we were conditioned to think that dreaming big was dangerous.
That the space between our ears needed to be monitored - in the wrong direction - to a point where we don’t even dare dream for fear of failing at something not even spoken.
So backwards. So unbelievably backwards.
It’s time to let go of that old conditioning and come to today, where you can be in another timezone in a matter of hours, and saber-toothed tigers are extinct.
When was the last time
You gave yourself permission to dream about what you really want?
When was the last time you did something that made you completely come alive?
These opportunities don’t come around every day.
You want an extraordinary life?
You can’t think in an ordinary way - like an ordinary person.
You aren’t.
Don’t sit in a shitty little uncomfortable life, waiting. For something else that’s not as great as what you want, but will suffice. Mediocrity is a modern day, first-world sin. And completely unnecessary. And your time on this planet is precious.
The worlds biggest cop-out:
I’ve heard many justify not going for what they really want with the biggest cop out ever, “I have a good life. I should be grateful”.
Well you know what? If you’re not going for what you really want, you might as well be dead. Because you’re certainly not alive.
“Don’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.”
- Howard Thurman
Howie had it right.
Personally, I want to be surrounded by people who are alive. All the time. I want the whole world to come alive, and I’m on a mission to wake people up.
Your biggest dreams are going to seem small once you smash through them. Because the minute you actually start going for what you want, it’s closer than you thought.
And its so much more fun going for what you want, because every step of the way is right on purpose.
And the minute you’ve done it, you realise that you were making a mountain out of a molehill.
And then you face forward, and there’s always more. And going for it becomes a fun process. And you’ll wonder why you didn’t start earlier.
It’s the same every time:
Recognise the dream.
Recognise it’s out of your comfort zone.
Go for the dream. Feel the fear, do it anyway, because fear isn’t real.
Do other things that solidify your new normal.
Create a new comfort zone. Repeat.
Pretty simple.
Your beliefs are a choice.
Do you know how many people say to me “I wish I could travel the world and work the way you do”.
Every day.
The main reason they don’t?
Its not time.
It’s not money.
It’s not their relationship.
They simply do not believe it is possible for them.
Your beliefs are a choice. Your entire experience of life is based on your beliefs, and your internal atmosphere. Your beliefs dictate your thoughts, which dictate your decisions, which dictate your actions, which dictate your results… and the cycle continues…
Change what’s going on between the ears, and you will change your whole existence.

I’m telling you, I did it. It works.
Thats why Vienda Maria and I created The Gypset Adventure.
And this is the essence of the whole thing.
The word Gypset is the amalgamation of having both of anything…
It’s so much more than location independence. Its thought independence. Its freedom for life.
Stay Curious, Stay open. The life you crave is so much closer than you think.
