7 Steps to Create More Space and Flow in Your Life
Today's tip on the video below is all about energy and the environment.
If you want to start living and performing at your peak, every day, you must make sure that you have an environment that supports what you need.
Clean freaks and OCD cleaners, you're about to have a field day. Today's distinction is Zen Your Den. When your environment is full of stale junk, things left over from yesterday dust etc, experts in Feng Shui believe that it actually blocks the energy for things to flow properly in your life, and it's true. In some schools of thought, it's even believed that depending on where the junk was stacked, for example, the back left corner or the back right corner of your environment, they reflect different aspects of your life, like your relationships, or money, etc. This is all Feng Shui.
Let me give you a radical example. So let's just say every morning, you go to your wardrobe when you wake up and it's chock full of clothes you don't wear and junk, and you think to yourself, ‘uugghh , I don't know what to wear today’ and you feel frustrated.
So you end up just pulling out anything, and not necessarily bringing together an outfit that you feel great in. Because it takes a little bit longer, you then don't eat a proper breakfast which means you're not so nourished and now you're running just a little bit late for work every single day.
Well, your boss starts to notice that you're not feeling so confident at work you are a little bit tired and cranky at work, obviously because you're not eating properly and you're a little bit late every day, so they just think you're not really up to that promotion, you don't get it, and you missed the opportunity.
Okay, so that's pretty extreme but it kind of makes sense. Taking your life to the elite level is about the fine distinctions that make big differences when you add them all together, and the energy of your environment is one of those things. Now you can of course go out and do a big spring clean on your house and your car and that's a great thing for you to do on a regular basis, but what I'd love for you to do today is a little process that I like to call, 'zenning your den'.
When you enjoy your surroundings, it's so much easier for you to relax, sleep, work, be creative and think clearly, and it goes much further beyond just cleaning up after yourself.
So right now, I want you to go and sit somewhere that you know that you spend a lot of time, maybe it's somewhere that you like to relax, maybe it's somewhere that is at home or at work somewhere that you know that you spend a lot of time. Maybe it's in the lounge room on the lounge or in the kitchen with a cup of tea or on the deck on the balcony, or even just at your desk at work. Sit down there and take a look around. Do you like what you see? Is it surrounded with objects that you love to look at, or is it a little bit cluttered and unclean.
What can you see from here? Things that you love to look at? Note the views, photos of good times with friends, flowers or a piece of art. Are they objects that you love to look at, or is it piles and piles and piles of reminders of things that you know that you need to do, or a bunch of junk that you don't even use. If you look around and you realize you didn't like anything about your den, that's okay you can now start taking the steps to actually change that. But for now, this is about making it work for you and doing the best with what you've got, so everything starts to flow immediately.
Here's some small things you can do around your home and at works that actually helps you, zen your den.
Make your bed in the morning. Maybe it was really nice and comfortable and inviting when you come back to it at night.
Get rid of any unnecessary or unwanted items that you do not use anymore, it's taking up space.
Once you clear the clutter up, find a place for everything.
Place items around you and in your environment that you love and you love to look at, such as photos, arts potplants, books, or even musical instruments or candles, things that you just love to look at.
At work, clean the desk every single day so it's nice and fresh when you come back in the morning, and keep items there that make you feel relaxed and happy. Maybe incense or photos of friends and family.
Bring some outside in, and inside out. What does that mean, bringing outside in means bringing in things that are alive, into your environment inside like pot plants and fresh flowers, it just livens up everything, bringing inside out, means, take some time every day to spend some time outside, or even create a space outside where you can do those things in nature that you would normally do inside like relaxing, creating a little space in the garden that you can just go and chill out, or on your balcony.
Unsubscribe. And we all know what that means. We've all got too much junk mail. Too many things coming into the letterbox in the inbox, and it takes up a lot of time and a lot of energy and it's not necessarily things that serve us. So go to your inbox and your mailbox and unsubscribe to things that are unnecessary and just take up energy in your life that you don't actually need, you start to create more space in the flow and time to actually think so.
Take some action, leave a comment below and tell me which part of your life, you're going to Zen this week, or what you already do to Zen your den every single day. I'm really looking forward to reading your comments. If you liked this video, don't forget to share the love with your friends.
Stay Curious, Stay open. The life you crave is so much closer than you think.
