It’s late. I’m wrapped up in my snuggliest clothes, recording this from my desk with a soft heart and steady hands.

This episode (and this post) is about something I’ve leaned on again and again — especially in the messy middle of life when everything feels a little too loud:
self-coaching as your anchor.

If you’ve been navigating change, craving clarity, or just wanting to come home to yourself again — this one’s for you.

What Is Self-Coaching, Really?

Self-coaching is the practice of meeting yourself with presence and compassion — especially when things feel uncertain.

It’s not about pushing through. It’s not a replacement for professional support. And it’s definitely not about bypassing your very real emotions.

It’s a powerful tool in personal development coaching, and it’s something every mindset coach I admire teaches in their own way.

Self-coaching is:

  • A way to return to clarity without needing anyone else in the room

  • A space to process big emotions and difficult moments with honesty

  • A skill that strengthens your confidence and connection to your inner world

If you’ve ever wondered how to coach yourself through something tough, it starts here.

Why Self-Coaching Matters for Personal Growth

Whether you call it confidence coaching, emotional intelligence coaching, or mindset coaching for success — the heart of it is the same:
Being able to pause. Ask yourself a better question. And shift your perspective in a way that’s helpful.

When you know how to self-coach, you’re not stuck waiting for clarity.
You’re not outsourcing your power.
You’re not avoiding what’s real.

You’re meeting yourself fully — and from that place, anything can shift.

How to Start Coaching Yourself (Even When You Feel Stuck)

Here’s where to begin if you’re brand new to this work — or if you just need a reset.

1. Ask a Better Question

When you catch yourself spiraling or reacting from fear, try this:
“How do I actually want this to go?”

That question alone has rerouted me in real time — in high-pressure moments where I felt cornered.
This is one of my go-to self-coaching techniques for personal growth because it gets you out of the problem and into the possibility.

2. Use What You Already Have

Maybe you’ve taken a course, seen a therapist, or learned NLP techniques for self-coaching. Dust them off. You don’t need fancy tools — you need accessible ones.

If you’re looking for more structured tools, I’ve shared a few of my faves below.

3. Make Time (Even 10 Minutes Counts)

The hardest part isn’t knowing the mindset tools — it’s choosing to use them.
Even 10–15 minutes with an intention to reflect, reframe, or regulate your emotions can change your day.

My 5 Go-To Self-Coaching Tools

These are the practices I return to again and again, especially when I need to recenter.

1. Emotional Clearing (NLP Coaching Tool)

Perfect for when your emotions are stacking and you can’t catch your breath.
This is one of my favorite emotional regulation strategies, and it’s helped me shift from spiraling to grounded in under 15 minutes.

2. Outcome Setting

A visualization process to anchor into your desired future.
It’s a core part of both transformational coaching and mindset shifts for personal development — and it’s magic when you're feeling directionless.

3. Forgiveness Work

Processes like Ho’oponopono are gentle, powerful ways to let go of the weight you're carrying. They support emotional clearing, self-compassion, and energetic reset.

4. Weekly Reviews

Simple, structured reflection. Great for tracking patterns, anchoring goals, and reconnecting to your progress.

5. Reframing

Not just about positive thinking — reframing is about truth-telling in a way that frees you.
This is the foundation of almost every mindset technique I teach.

You Don’t Need to Be a Coach to Coach Yourself

This is something I remind my students constantly:
You don’t have to be a trained self-improvement coach or know every model in the book.

You just need:

  • A tool

  • A little time

  • And a willingness to be with what’s true

And honestly? You can self-coach while lying in bed, sitting in traffic, or journaling over a cup of tea. It doesn’t need to be dramatic or perfect. Just real.

Self-coaching has anchored me in moments when I felt completely untethered.
It’s reminded me that I don’t need to wait to feel ready. I just need to return.
To myself.
To what I know.
To what’s true.

If you’re in a season where you feel a bit lost, I hope this is your reminder:

You can guide yourself. You can shift. You can start again.
And the life you crave? It’s closer than you think.
